The phrase “to be yoked together” literally means to be joined together. Oxen are known for their bulky size and extreme strength, so when you call someone “yoked,” you’re comparing them to a strong and muscular ox. Be sure not to confuse “yoke” and “yolk” (as in an egg yolk)!
